SUSTAINABILITY

Our love of the outdoors drives innovation, exploration, and adventure. It also compels us to make meaningful steps towards improving our environmental and social impact.

We are surfers, hikers, bikers, paddlers, sailors—lovers of outdoor spaces and we are inspired by the freedom those spaces provide. Stewardship of our natural environment is as important to us as the creation of new products and we purposefully make gear that lasts and can be easily repaired.

At Sea to Summit we invent gear that enables freedom and self-reliance in any environment—and we believe it is imperative that same environment be around for future generations of adventurers to enjoy. The meaningful steps we are making towards improving our environmental and social impact and our commitment to being transparent about our progress is the only way to guarantee we do our part in making that happen.

CLIMATE

Acknowledging we can do better, we’ve begun increasing our understanding of how our actions as a brand impacts our global environment. This includes estimating our Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions to further guide our actions in reducing our footprint.

PRODUCT DESIGN

We are striving to reduce the environmental impact of our products by increasing the use of traceable recycled materials, choosing better chemistry through our commitment to bluesign® approved fabrics and transitioning to C0 non-PFC water repellent finishes.

CARE FOR OUR PEOPLE

Much like our products—we build relationships that last. It’s important to us that we take care of the people who work for Sea to Summit and the people who make our products, which is why we’re committed to fair labour practices in our supply chain. Our Product Creation and Supply teams partner with our local suppliers and third-party auditors to confirm compliance with our factory code of conduct, which aligns with the internationally recognised SA8000 Social Accountability Labour Standard.

RECYCLABLE PACKAGING

We approach packaging design as we do product—with meticulous attention to detail. Seeking better solutions is an ongoing challenge, and it’s why we’ve recently undergone the most significant packaging review in our three decades of operation.

The outcome will see us transitioning all packaging to responsibly sourced card-based and easily recyclable materials, reducing single-use plastic and maximising carton-efficiency across our entire product line. We are making meaningful steps towards improving our environmental and social impact—and we are committed to being transparent about our progress.

GIVING BACK

We support non-profits that preserve the places we play and that enable more people to get out and enjoy nature. We’ve had decade-plus relationships with many organisations; others are new to us—all are positively impacting people and the planet. These are some of the organisations we currently support:
