Spark Sleeping Bag - SPIII

Spark Sleeping Bag – SPIII

Using the warmth of 850+ loft 90/10 Premium goose down, the amazing moisture protection of ULTRADRY Down™, and a micro-weight 10D Nylon shell and 15D lining, we have created one of the best warmth-for-weight minimalist sleeping bags available.

The Spark is an ultra-light bag with many possible uses. Its balance of size, weight and warmth make it an excellent summer sleeping bag, especially for weight and space conscious cycle tourers and ultralight fastpackers. It also works well as a liner bag, slipping inside another sleeping bag to add one or two seasons to its rating.

The Spark compresses so small, we had to reengineer our compression-sacks to make one that reduced sufficiently. The ULTRA-DRY Down™ protection makes the Spark an impressive hard-alpine or adventure racing sleeping bag, where down has never before been a viable option, and weight is simply not tolerated.

The secrets of the Spark’s warmth-to-weight are in the premium quality down, the half length light-gauge #3 YKK® zip and high performance microweight shell and liner fabrics. The Spark is designed as a close-fitting mummy bag. The full hood, footbox and short zip maximise fit and warmth while keeping weight and bulk to a minimum.

The Spark I is constructed with sewn-through transverse baffles. The Spark II is a hybrid construction with box wall baffles placed over the torso to boost warmth around your core and a sewn-through construction at the legs. A draft tube is sewn over the zip to reduce cold spots in the Spark II and III models. The Spark III is constructed entirely from box wall baffles including the footbox for even heat retention. The head and neck baffles have been enlarged to trap vital warmth and achieve a lower limit EN rating of -4°C.

    20D Ripstop Nylon

    20D Ripstop Nylon

The 2D NanoShell™ used in the Micro, Latitude and Talus sleeping bags is a durable 20 denier high-density weave nylon shell fabric treated with a DWR and a thin microporous coating. It is 100% windproof and highly water resistant to keep the down dry from external water or melting snow. The thin microporous coating is also highly breathable, it allows water vapour produced by your body to freely diffuse through the NanoShell face fabric to the outside. It has been designed to provide maximum protection from wind and moisture, such as heavy dew if you are bivvying out under a tarp.
    30D PermaShell Nylon

    30D PermaShell Nylon

2D PermaShell™ fabric is a high density weave 30 denier Nylon with a DWR finish. This material is highly vapour permeable and down proof by construction.
    1000D Nylon

    1000D Nylon

Our highest Denier nylon fabric. It is used in our duffle bag range to protect the base of the bag from almost anything you can throw at it. While some fabrics are designed to be lightweight and packable, this is designed to cope with a lifetime of abuse and keep coming back for more. A polyurethane coat on the inside of the fabric provides water resistance.
    900D Tarpaulin

    900D Tarpaulin

We needed an expedition grade fabric that would be hard wearing against abrasions and waterproof. The 900 Denier yarn provides tensile strength and tear-resistance. It has been laminated on both sides; the external laminate is water-shedding and abrasion-resistant, the internal laminate boosts the waterproofness and gives rigidity. This fabric is stiff enough to provide structure to the bag allowing it to stand upright on its own while packing.
